    1. Where are you from? Despite my father claiming I was not of this world, I am. In fact, born in Providence Rhode Island, raised in Warwick, RI, less than a mile from TF Green Airport. Interesting fact, although this airport is listed everywhere as The Providence Airport, it is not in Providence.

    2. How old are you? On the advice of myself, I refuse to answer on the grounds the answer may incriminate me😵‍💫

    3. Your favourite style of music? I love any form of music. I do not care for Rap, but that’s academic as the question relates to music!

    4. Why did you sign up for Online Rock Lessons? I’ve played guitar since the 4th grade, started teaching guitar at age 16. I played professionally for a number of years, to include a year in beautiful Canada! I have been asked to join a local, working band, BUT, as they have a guitarist, I would audition as a keyboard/guitar player. So, looking at the myriad of online courses, I came across a smiling, energetic lovely young lady presenting a Green Onions tutorial. Well, I should clarify, the smiling young lady was also an adapt business woman, the tutorial focused on the intro, with the balance of the classic tune available upon enrollment! I was already sold, the vibe coming through the screen was contagious, sign me up! (So glad I am part of the community.)

<strong style="”font-family:" inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color); font-size: background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color);”>5. What is your #1 piano & keyboards goal? To become proficient at keyboards (organ, synth emphasis), to possess requisite skills/knowledge, to be competent in a performance based, non professional environment.

    1. Origine? Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Québec
    2. Age? 42
    3. Musique préférée? Rock, blues, funk

    4. Pourquoi online rock lessons? J’ai bien aimé le ton des cours de Marine sur Youtube. Je cherche à pratiquer intelligemment.
    5. But ultime?

    Bonjour!

I live in the boonies in northern Michigan, I’m 63 years old, and my favorite music is quite varied but in general tends towards harder rock including classic rock from the 70’s though various forms of metal. I especially love the role organ, synth, and piano sounds play in this music! Some favorite bands are Fields of the Nephilim, Porcupine Tree, Uriah Heep, Theater of Tragedy, Nightwish, The Birthday Massacre, Paradise Lost, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

I took piano lessons as a pre-teen, but for some reason I didn’t like it, and when one year one of my little league baseball games was scheduled on the same night as my spring piano recital, I chose the baseball game which enraged my piano teacher so he fired me from lessons! I didn’t touch a piano for decades after. That was a long time ago and I spent the intervening decades raising 4 kids and being consumed by all other things in life. I always loved listening to music, I just didn’t play any myself.

Through no doing on my part, somehow 3 of my kids on their own developed an interest in learning music. My wife was against it (would be too noisy she said), but I persuaded her to support our kids, one kid ended up being a drummer, one a guitarist, and one a keyboardist. The house was definitely noisy, she was right about that! The kids all ended up being quite good actually, and in their 20’s they moved from Michigan to Chicago to form an original band for 3 years, had fun with that. They went their separate ways with real jobs several years ago but still collaborate on new original music to this day. The oldest also has in recent years been the keyboardist for a couple different 80’s cover bands.

Well here I am, I still basically don’t play anything, my kids have had all the fun! I recently retired from my job, and would really like to learn to play piano, organ, and synths. Obviously I’m looking at a lengthy undertaking, but hopefully I still have a couple reasonably good decades left to go at it! I just feel something inside calling me to do it.

My keyboardist son has his own life, and anyway lives 6 hours away, so I started looking around and thought Marine’s online method would be just what I need. I’m starting the method at the very beginning to make sure I don’t miss anything important. I’m very impressed with all the hard work, careful thought, and obvious love Marine has put into this online learning, it’s going to be great I have no doubt!

I also took a few years of French in high school and college, and though I haven’t used it in decades, I’m having fun seeing how much of the French comments on this site I can read!

    Hello,

I’m happy to be here…feel free to interact with me in French or in English.

    1. Where are you from? Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
    2. How old are you? I aM 54
    3. Your favourite style of music? I Love Rock and blues

    4. Why did you sign up for Online Rock Lessons? I am enrolled in two other online piano training but practicing Fur Elise type of songs or pop music does not keep me motivated as I’m really more into blues and rock. I think Marine online rock lessons will most likely help keeping the motivation.
    5. What is your #1 piano & keyboards goal? My #1 piano & keyboards goal is to be able to memorize chords and scales…I’m pretty sure this would have a huge impact on my musical journey…then my second goal is to learn songs that I really like and eventually play with guitar players for fun.

Here is a little more about myself: I started fooling around on keyboard 34 years ago but was not really focused, I was pretty good at programming backing tracks on a software called Dr T on an old Amiga 500 computer. I played a little bit with a guitar player and really enjoyed it. I have been a while without playing music at all then started playing harmonica, I love blues and harmonica became my main instrument for a few years (mainly amplified playing along with backing track) I wish to keep playing harmonica but will focus more on keyboard for a while. I really love blues and rock. I already had subscriptions to other piano/keyboard schools but I find it hard to stay motivated and get bored practicing Fur Elise and other common piano stuff. I’m sure Marine’s online school will really help keeping my motivation alive as the songs selections are fully aligned with the music I listen and like.

    1. Where are you from? Live in a rural area in E Texas (Gilmer)
    2. How old are you? (88)
    3. Your favorite style of music? Jazz – Blues – Country
    4. Why did you sign up for Online Rock Lessons? Hammond Organ area of the course
    5. What is your #1 piano & keyboards goal? Play using backing tracks (do that now with my guitar playing) and play behind a singer, too. The very first Practice lesson of the Organ course is exactly what I what to learn to do. And that is where I am currently (Practice Section Lesson 14 — love it!). I looked ahead at lesson 15 – gad, I’ll be in deep trouble.

I also play steel guitar and ‘regular’ guitar — still learning.those instruments.

    Hi to everyone

    I am from Spain.

    I am over 50 years old (53)

I have been trying to learn to play the piano for more than 10 years, but it has not been until the last 2-3 years that I have gotten down to work.

Starting to learn on my own, through online courses and through a mobile or tablet application. Although I’m happy with the progress I’ve made over the last two years, I feel like I’m stuck at a beginner-intermediate level and can’t go any further. I admit that I have felt that it was difficult for me to improve and that I was slow in the process of learning to play the piano, despite practicing 4-5 days a week for almost an hour. Although it is true that I have never played any type of instrument.

I love listening to music of all kinds, but especially rock.

I would like to obtain enough technique and ease to be able to perform songs from my favorite rock bands: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Black Crowes, etc.

And also develop the necessary skills to be able to play in a band with friends like an entertainment.
